The CPCC is partially funded by NSERC, which is a Canadian government organization and as such, offers cultures and services at a lower rate to non-profit institutions such as universities and government laboratories. Click here for a complete list of fees.
Cultures are shipped in liquid medium or when possible, on agar. The usual volume supplied for liquid cultures is 15 mL. Larger cultures of up to several litres are available on special order. If you require large numbers of cultures a quantity discount may be applied.
Please allow 10 working days after placing your order for shipment of 15 mL volumes of cultures. Please allow more time for larger volumes or cultures that are slow-growing. For information regarding delivery time for your order please contact us.
For institutions and companies: please obtain a purchase order number from your accounting department if required by your institution. We also need the full shipping address including street name and number as courier shipments cannot be made to a P.O. Box. In order to provide the best service, we require the name, telephone number and email address of the end user so the person can be contacted regarding any details or questions about the order. Also please indicate the postal address, telephone number and email address for the person to whom the invoice should be directed, if different from the shipping address.
Please review the Terms & Conditions before ordering. If you are ordering any toxic strains you will need to complete and sign the appropriate form available under the Terms & Conditions and fax it to us.
It is very helpful if you let us know the purpose for which the cultures will be used so that we can advise on the best strain for the project. It also provides us with information that would be useful to the funding agency, NSERC, regarding the types of research being conducted with CPCC cultures.
Before ordering cultures and medium online, you will need to register with CPCC as a user. Please go to the "User Login" area on the left of this page and select the option "Create an Account". After you submit your request please wait for an email reply confirming that your account has been activated before attempting to place an order online.
We encourage you to use the online ordering where possible but we currently accept orders by other methods as outlined below.
Shipping and handling charges are added and these vary according to the destination, size, and weight of the package. See list of fees. Shipping is made by courier using Purolator, TNT, UPS, or Federal Express. If you would prefer your shipment(s) to be sent collect, please provide us with your carrier's account number. A handling fee of $5 applies.
An invoice is sent following the shipment of the cultures and can be paid directly to the Finance Department at University of Waterloo by one of the following methods:
